What personal data we collect and why we collect it
Comments
When visitors leave comments on the site, we collect the data shown in the comments form, and the visitor’s IP address and browser user agent string to help spam detection.
An anonymized string created from your email address (also called a hash) may be provided to the Gravatar service to see if you are using it. Cookies
If you leave a comment on our site you may opt-in to saving your name, email address and website in cookies. These are for your convenience so that you do not have to fill in your details again when you leave another comment. These cookies will last for one year.
If you visit our login page, we will set a temporary cookie to determine if your browser accepts cookies. This cookie contains no personal data and is discarded when you close your browser.
When you log in, we will also set up several cookies to save your login information and your screen display choices. Login cookies last for two days, and screen options cookies last for a year. If you select “Remember Me”, your login will persist for two weeks. If you log out of your account, the login cookies will be removed.
If you edit or publish an article, an additional cookie will be saved in your browser. This cookie includes no personal data and simply indicates the post ID of the article you just edited. It expires after 1 day.
Embedded content from other websites
Articles on this site may include embedded content (e.g. videos, images, articles, etc.). Embedded content from other websites behaves in the exact same way as if the visitor has visited the other website.
These websites may collect data about you, use cookies, embed additional third-party tracking, and monitor your interaction with that embedded content, including tracking your interaction with the embedded content if you have an account and are logged in to that website.
Analytics
Google Analytics
To keep Trober website current, user-oriented and complete, this website uses Google Analytics, a web analysis tool by Google Inc. (“Google”) that allows us to optimize our website to your needs. Google Analytics uses cookies that can track your preferences when you visit our website. This provides functions such as facilitating navigation and allows us to make our services even more user-friendly. The information generated for this purpose (including the IP address) is anonymized by default so that it cannot be used to identify you. The data is only analysed for reports after anonymization. The information generated by these cookies is generally transmitted to and stored on a Google server in the United States. As a user of our services, you can, of course, opt-out of the use of cookies by changing your browser settings at any time.
You can prevent the data generated by the cookie and related to your use of the website (including your IP address) from being collected and processed by Google by downloading and installing a browser plug-in (IP anonymization). However, Google first truncates your IP address within Member States of the European Union or other contracting states to the Agreement on the European Economic Area. The current link is:
http://tools.google.com/dlpage/gaoptout?hl=de.
More information on usage conditions and data protection in Google Analytics can be found here:
http://www.google.com/analytics/terms/us.html.
As an AdWords customer, Trober also uses Google conversion tracking by Google on some pages. This means that Google AdWords places a cookie on your computer (“conversion cookie”) if you have accessed our website via a Google ad. These cookies become invalid after 30 days. If you visit certain pages on our website and the cookie has not yet expired, we and Google can recognize that someone has clicked on an ad and been directed to our page as a result. Each AdWords customer receives a different cookie. Cookies, therefore, cannot be tracked via the websites of AdWords customers. The information collected with the help of the conversion cookie allows us to prepare conversion statistics to optimize our services. AdWords customers know, for instance, the total number of customers who have clicked on their ad and been redirected to a page with a conversion tracking tag, but they do not receive any information by which users can be personally identified. If you do not want to participate in the tracking, you can prevent the placement of the necessary cookie, for instance through a browser setting that deactivates the automatic placement of cookies in general. You can also deactivate conversion tracking cookies by setting your browser to block cookies from the domain “googleadservices.com”.
Moreover, Trober uses Google’s remarketing technology on some pages. With this technology, users who have already visited our web pages and online services and shown an interest in what we have to offer are shown targeted advertising on other websites of the Google Partner network. The ads are displayed through the use of cookies, by means of which the user’s behaviour during his or her visit to the website is analysed and then used for targeted product recommendations and interest-based advertising.
If you do not wish to receive any interest-based advertising, you can deactivate Google’s use of cookies for these purposes by going to https://www.google.de/settings/ads. Alternatively, users can deactivate cookies from third-party providers by going to the network advertising initiative’s deactivation page (link: http://www.networkadvertising.org/managing/opt_out.asp).
How long we retain your data
If you leave a comment, the comment and its metadata are retained indefinitely. This is so we can recognize and approve any follow-up comments automatically instead of holding them in a moderation queue.
For users that register on our website (if any), we also store the personal information they provide in their user profile. All users can see, edit, or delete their personal information at any time (except they cannot change their username). Website administrators can also see and edit that information.
What rights you have over your data
If you have an account on this site or have left comments, you can request to receive an exported file of the personal data we hold about you, including any data you have provided to us. You can also request that we erase any personal data we hold about you. This does not include any data we are obliged to keep for administrative, legal, or security purposes.
Where we send your data
Visitor comments may be checked through an automated spam detection service.
